Anxiety and panic attacks, thorns in the body
If you had asked me 3-4 years ago what anxiety was, I wouldn't have been able to give an answer. That's because I hadn't even heard of it, let alone experienced it. Anxiety manifests itself differently from person to person. For me, it manifested itself by having a continuous fear of almost everything around me. I was afraid to leave the house, to speak, or to do certain basic things without which you can't carry out your daily tasks. I had this manifestation for a long time in my life and I still can't say that I've completely gotten rid of it. In addition to the fear that something bad could happen, anxiety also manifested itself physically, often leading to panic attacks (fortunately not extremely severe ones).
How do I manage anxiety and panic attacks?
First of all, I have to mention the fact that I am in a continuous dialogue with my psychiatrist who prescribed me some anti-anxiety pills. Don't run away from a psychologist and psychiatrist, let alone a spiritual father. All three have their well-established role in our physical and spiritual life, so if I hope you never need the first two, I know for sure that we all need the third.
Also, when anxiety or panic attacks appear, I try to focus my attention on my breathing, trying to inhale deeply and exhale slowly.
Another thing I do to prevent them is exercise, which I can say is a godsend. As soon as I leave exercise, as panic and anxiety episodes start to appear again, which makes me recommend, with all responsibility, doing exercise: either a longer walk, or a run in the morning, or some generic exercises like squats, push-ups, and why not, even the rosary.
Walking in nature also helps to reduce anxiety. Unfortunately, being from Bucharest and working from home, I can't say that I can also resort to this way of combating this disease, but I highly recommend it to all those who live near the mountains, the sea, a forest, or even a larger park.
Another beneficial tool against anxiety is prayer and spiritual balance. Unfortunately, fewer and fewer people bend their knees to pray, but this literally works wonders in our lives.
Socializing is also a free medicine that we can turn to at any time. Talking openly about what we feel, and not only, can get us out of the anxious state we are in.
If you know of other symptoms or ways to combat anxiety or panic attacks, please leave a comment on this post, so that we can all benefit from the precious information that we write for the benefit of everyone.
God bless!
