Prayer - the key to another world

Since I discovered prayer, I can say that I have found myself again, but not in any way, but much stronger. Prayer is the key to God's world, a world full of love, freedom, patience, mercy, forgiveness, hope, faith, and other wonderful qualities. A world in which I certainly want to live, as well as all those close to me (including those who are asleep), and not only (but since I am not the one who decides on behalf of others, all I can do is pray for them).

This world of prayer is not an imaginary one, but one as concrete as possible. A world in which God, the Mother of God, and the saints listen to our prayers and, if they are useful to us, at the right time, they are also fulfilled. Prayers to the Mother of God and to the saints are intercessory prayers, in which we ask them to intercede for us before the Lord Jesus Christ, so that He, in His omniscience, may decide whether or not to fulfill the prayers addressed to Him by us.

Prayer is the food of the soul. Also, with the help of prayer, we strengthen our personal relationship with God. Without prayer, man is threatened with sadness and falling into despair (or depression, if you will). That is why it is good to form a habit of praying, like doing it in the morning and evening, or at other times of the day, if time permits, and if we have agreed on this in advance with our spiritual father.

Prayers like “Our Father”, “It is truly right to bless you”, or reciting the Jesus prayer (“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us!”) bring peace and blessing into our lives. Also, other prayers that can be read and that bring a lot of help and peace of mind are the akathist and the chapel. I also practice and recommend the prayer in which I try to address the Lord, the Mother of God, the saints, and the angels, in my own words.

In conclusion, as an Orthodox Christian, I recommend with all my love that we pray both for ourselves and for those close to us, be they our family, our friends, our neighbors, or simple people we encounter throughout the day. A simple prayer like “God bless!”, said with sincerity and faith, can do more than a thousand words.
