The Miracles of Saint Parascheva ‒ "The atheist university doctors, who saw me recovering, said it was a divine miracle!"

Today, I came to give thanks for all the good that the Venerable Parascheva has done for me over time.

I was born in 1985 with a rather rare and very serious illness. I had fluid in the area of ​​my skull, which affected my brain and eyes. In short, I risked going blind and having a severe mental disability.

The diagnosis, made by doctors at the Roman Hospital, confirmed by those at the Children's Hospital in Iași and the University Hospital in Bucharest, was hydrocephalus.

What does this illness actually mean? A lot of torment and certain death. You either die in torment, or you live and suffer your whole life with a very serious mental disability. It is enough to do a search on the Internet or ask a doctor what this illness is. It is even worse than cancer. While there are known cases of other diseases that have been cured, even completely, by various modern procedures, in the case of this disease, there are no known cases of complete cure, perhaps only partial, but with very expensive treatment.

At the age of almost one year, I was brought by my grandmother to the reliquary with the holy relics of the Venerable Parascheva, in a very serious condition: on the verge of going blind and remaining cerebrally affected for life. Month after month, until around the age of 3, I went to Hospital No. 9 in Bucharest, where the most serious cases of mental disability in the whole country are treated. During my treatment, services were held at the Venerable Parascheva, in Iaşi and in Roman, the Holy Unction and the Molifts of Saint Basil the Great. The doctors encouraged my mother, but they all knew that I was as good as lost... They gave me one more chance: if I managed to fix it with my eyes at the Military Hospital in Bucharest, so that I wouldn't go blind, and at the University Hospital in Bucharest, if I had a valve inserted.

A few weeks after I had been to Sfântul Maslu, my medical situation had visibly improved. There were university professors who simply didn't believe it and couldn't explain what was happening! The operation I needed was approved, and it was a success. Although those were times of declared atheism, many of the doctors and university professors who saw me said that it was... a divine miracle!

At the age of 3, I was completely healed. Prayers of thanks were said to the Venerable Parascheva, and throughout my life, I have felt God protecting me many times. Today I am completely healed!

Only that I, in my almost 26 years of life, have not come even once to thank the Venerable Parascheva... I was not very faithful and, when problems and troubles came upon me, in droves, I remembered Saint Parascheva, and today I came to thank her and pray to her. It is the first time in so long! I felt relieved, doing this. I confessed to my confessor and took a canon for my ingratitude for so many years!

Great are You, Lord, and wonderful are Your works! To our God be glory forever and ever. Amen!

Prayer - the key to another world

Since I discovered prayer, I can say that I have found myself again, but not in any way, but much stronger. Prayer is the key to God's world, a world full of love, freedom, patience, mercy, forgiveness, hope, faith, and other wonderful qualities. A world in which I certainly want to live, as well as all those close to me (including those who are asleep), and not only (but since I am not the one who decides on behalf of others, all I can do is pray for them). This world of prayer is not an imaginary one, but one as concrete as possible. A world in which God, the Mother of God, and the saints listen to our prayers and, if they are useful to us, at the right time, they are also fulfilled. Perseverance in the face of illness and in life

Having experienced illness (in my case depression ) I can say that perseverance played an important role in getting me back to a somewhat normal level of living. Of course, in the face of illness we are all helpless. But also, God does not give us more than we can handle, and with His help, we can overcome everything. All we have to do is move forward, with our head first, having the hope that God is holding our hand and that He will break down any door that seems unopenable. By these doors, I mean the different stages of an illness, whatever it may be, or of some experiences or feelings in our lives. In my case, there were several doors that I felt I could no longer open, but I persevered, prayed, and tried endlessly, until the doors collapsed before me.
