The widow's prayer

Lord my God! It pleased Your will, which is beyond human understanding, to take my husband to Yourself. Heavy is the cross that You have given me to bear! But to whom shall I seek my refuge but in You, Who are the Almighty Defender and Supporter of widows, and the Almighty Father of orphans? Help me as one who is helpless, nourish me as one who is poor, and strengthen me to do Your all-holy will in all things. In You, Most Good Master, I place all my trust; hear my humble prayer, and help me to increase in every good, useful, and pleasing work to You. Help me, O Lord God, to do Your will in all things, for the sake of Your Only-Begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, with Whom You are blessed together, with Your all-loving, good, and life-giving Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
