Is there peace in the soul of today's man?
He searches for it everywhere and does not find it. Tourism, sports, drugs, etc., what are they if not an expression of this vain search? And he does not find it because he seeks it where it is not. He seeks it in the pursuit of money, in pleasures, in honors.
But riches, honors, sinful pleasures, and the like are not fruits of the Holy Spirit, but of another spirit, of the spirit of this age, of the spirit of disorder, of satan. And if there is no peace in the souls of men, there is no peace outside, between men. How can the spirit of satan bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Scripture tells us that at the beginning of the world, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of life, was hovering over the waters (Genesis 1:2).
Does the Spirit of God, the creator of life and peace, still hover in the air of today's world? It does, but we know what spirit: the spirit of death, the clouds of nuclear radiation, the asphyxiating smog, which man has created and is constantly creating. And the fruits of this spirit? Incessant wars between people, political doctrines that deny God, that cultivate hatred between people and legislate the most degrading sins, huge factories that manufacture instruments of death day and night. How can this fearful arsenal of hatred, enmity, corruption, and sins bring forth peace in the world?
Our Church prays day and night for the peace of the whole world.
