There is no fear in love
There is no fear in love, because true love comes from God and carries within it eternal peace and security. This is what the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John, the beloved disciple of the Savior, who knew more than anyone the mystery of divine love, teaches us. He does not speak from hearsay, but from experience: he stood next to Christ, bowed his head on His chest at the Last Supper and felt the love that heals all fear.
This love is not human and fleeting, but is the work of God in the heart. It leaves no room for fear, because where God is, there is light, and darkness cannot remain. Fear comes from insecurity, from distance from God, from lack of faith. But when man draws near to Christ and tastes of His love, the soul begins to calm down, to gain courage and hope.
Saint John shows us that perfect love not only drives away fear, but heals it from the root. The man who truly loves no longer lives for himself, is no longer possessed by anxieties, but entrusts himself entirely to God. In this entrustment, peace is born, and in peace, the soul becomes free.
In this spirit of divine love, the Church celebrates the commemoration of Saint John every year on May 8, and through him a miracle is revealed to us that strengthens faith. At his tomb, according to ancient testimonies, a fine substance appears, like a blessed dew, often called "manna" or "the grace of the Saint", which brings comfort and healing to those who come with faith.
This miracle is nothing more than a living testimony that God's love does not stop at the grave. Where there was true love, there God's grace works even after death. Because the love of Christ is stronger than fear, stronger than pain, and even stronger than death.
Therefore, the faithful man is called not to live in fear, but in love. To seek closeness to God, to forgive, to pray, and to love without measure. Because where there is pure love, there is God… and where there is God, there is no longer any room for fear.
