We speak with our mouths, but our minds are far away...

We speak with our mouths, but with our minds we are far away… And Jesus Christ rebukes us, saying to His contemporaries this thing that hurts us even now when we hear it: “This people honors Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me” (Isaiah 29:13; Matthew 15:8). And then, if they are far away, wait… But we suffer…

We pray with the usual prayers and leave the church or the place of prayer just as bad as we were until then. Why? We did not have this contact, this connection with this Force, which can calm us, inspire us, give us strength, give us zeal for God, for goodness, for beauty, for good deeds, for love for people… We are always irritated, poisoned, nervous, very sensitive, someone offends us with an inappropriate word… ready! We are ready to respond with violence. Because we have this whirlwind, this inner turmoil, and that is why I say that this dispassion, this inner cleansing is needed. And this is a struggle… our care must be permanent. Just as, if you want to turn on the light bulb in your room, something must be plugged in, so that it can light up at once. But we are often unplugged, when we pray, we cannot have a connection with the Source of light and love and power, and that is why we remain like this, in a kind of penumbra or darkness.
